Breed Standards

All registered cattle breeds have written definitions which are referred to as Breed Standards.  Over time these breed standards may be modified to suit more desirable attributes, or perhaps when a new Breed Society is formed in a different country.

The links below reflect a standard that was written before the formation in 1884 of The Highland Cattle Society, Scotland, as well as that Societies written standard published in 1885.
